Prices

Developing a website is a complicated procedure which is highly specific to each client. This means that it is impossible to have a uniform pricing scheme - no two websites are alike. However, we can give you a general idea of the costs involved, and our policies.

Small, Static Websites

Many organisations want to test the waters before leaping into the vast World Wide Web. We can provide small, cheap websites in a matter of weeks. They offer all the benefits of a globally accessible website that can be accessed by your visitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the low risks involved with such a low cost.

For a small website, you can expect to incur the following costs:

Design Fee

This varies depending on quite a few factors. You can expect to pay anywhere from £500.00 to £1000.00. For that, we will design a page layout that is consistent across your whole website, and is flexible across a wide range of browsing environments.

Content Fee

We'll need copies of any promotional literature, and any other information you wish to place on your website. We'll organise this into an easily browsable structure, perform minimal copy editing where appropriate, and encode the content into a set of pages for your website. The price for this will usually be between £10.00 and £20.00 per page. Where a very large number of pages are required, discounts are available.

Hosting Fee

Your website should reside on a server that has a fast, reliable connection to the Internet. We provide hosting on fast, stable servers running the FreeBSD operating system. Depending on the type of website involved, prices range from £10.00 per month up to £20.00 per month.

Domain Name Fee

We will also need to register a domain name for you. Usual costs for these are around £15.00 per year, although prices vary depending on what name you would like. You can have more than one domain name if you wish. Please ask for details.

Advanced Websites

For larger organisations, we are fully capable of supplying advanced, interactive websites, such as e-commerce applications or content management systems. Of course, this is much more expensive, and we only recommend this for organisations already familiar with the Internet. Each website is highly specific to each client, and so an in-depth consultation is needed to find the right pricing structure for these websites.

Remember: no two websites are alike, and we can plug new features into a smaller website at any time, so if you need to, you can start off with a smaller website, and scale up as your organisation grows. Please contact us to schedule a meeting with one of our representatives.

What does it all mean?

A lot of these terms can be unfamiliar if this is the first time you have looked at commissioning your own website. Don't worry, here is a cheat sheet to help you get by:

Hosting

The files that make up your website have to be stored on a computer that has a fast, reliable connection to the Internet. Usually, it's a far better idea to outsource this, so that the computers that store your website are sitting in a climate-controlled, disaster-proof environment, with fully redundant power supplies. Even if your servers never crash, they'll have a hard time keeping up if your server room ever floods. We worry about this kind of thing so you don't have to.

Domain Name

This is your own private space on the Internet, for example, ours is foraynewmedia.com. You control email that goes to this place, and you can have any number of subdomains - the most popular being 'www' to refer to the website.
